About Us

Our Philosophy“If you can’t measure it, you can’t make it.”

In the world of ultra-precision machining, there is a fundamental principle: “What cannot be measured cannot be manufactured.” Through joint research with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST)—the body responsible for Japan’s national measurement standards—we have equipped our facility with world-class measuring instruments that were previously non-existent.

By utilizing these instruments, which maintain direct traceability to national standards, we put our philosophy of “Measurement-Driven Manufacturing” into practice. Every day, we challenge ourselves to develop new manufacturing technologies worthy of high-precision quality assurance.

Achieving Extraordinary Surface Flatness of λ/100(P-V 6.3nm)

Technical’s Ultra-High Precision Prisms

Through our collaborative research, we focused on polishing ultra-high precision flat master plates using highly homogeneous synthetic quartz, based on surface shape evaluations from AIST.

Furthermore, by innovating holding mechanisms for polished flat substrates, we have succeeded in minimizing deformation and deflection after mounting. This allows us to manufacture and guarantee λ/100 flatness over 90% of a Φ100mm aperture. We continue to strive for even higher levels of precision in our flat master plates.

「We adhere to “Specifications of Optically Smooth Surfaces by Micro-defects,” classified as polishing stages P1 through P4. The surface roughness values below are measured using the Zygo NewView 7300 3D Optical Profiler. Please note that achievable roughness varies depending on the material; please contact us for details.

Simplified Optical Alignment: Pyramidal Error within ±1 arcmin for All Products

Simplified Optical Alignment: Pyramidal Error within ±1 arcmin for All Products

Minimizing pyramidal error during prism processing is extremely difficult. Because this was not widely known, only a few optical companies previously specified it.

In recent years, it has become recognized that using prisms with low pyramidal error significantly reduces assembly and adjustment time, leading directly to major cost savings. While some requirements specify “tilt” from the side, if a tilt within 1 arcminute is required for all three surfaces, the pyramidal error must also be approximately 1 arcminute or less.

Since our founding, we have been committed to maintaining a pyramidal error of less than 1 arcminute for all our products. Depending on the product, we can achieve precision within 5 arcseconds. We provide “authentic” prisms that meet our customers’ highest expectations.

Ultra-High Precision Angle Measurement: Accuracy of ±0.2 arcsec($0.000056°)

Ultra-High Precision Angle Measurement: Accuracy of ±0.2 arcsec($0.000056°)

We have developed a system combining a rotary table featuring an encoder with AIST’s “SelfA” (Self-Averaging) technology and an ultra-high precision autocollimator. By performing the same self-calibration as national angular standards, we have enabled angle measurement with an accuracy of ±0.2 arcseconds or less.

This measurement capability allows us to process angles with a precision of ±0.2 arcseconds. For minute angle measurements where SelfA is required, surface flatness also becomes a factor. Therefore, we perform measurements at the center of the target surfaces to ensure absolute accuracy.

Since our inception, Technical has tackled numerous high-difficulty machining projects. In this process, we have refined our technology to quantify experience and intuition, allowing us to manufacture products accurately and efficiently. We have built a system that enables “Targeted Manufacturing”—delivering the exact quality our customers request.

Our inspection facilities include interferometers and 3D structural analysis microscopes housed in a clean, temperature-controlled room. We provide optimal quality assurance for surface flatness, surface roughness, angular accuracy, and dimensional precision to meet your specific needs.
